We built this compact phone purse from vegetable-tanned leather dyed in a deep wine shade that warms under direct sun. The shell measures 6.3 inches long, 3.15 inches deep, and 8.27 inches tall, weighing under one pound empty. How this one is built
Vegetable tanned hide
We chose vegetable-tanned leather for its firm temper and clean surface grain. The deep wine finish hides minor rubs well and softens naturally along the edges with steady carry, holding its upright shape even when lightly packed.
Pocket arrangement
Seven dedicated compartments divide the interior so small items do not settle into a jumble. You get three card slots, a broad slip pocket, a roomy central compartment, plus zip pockets on the front and back panels.
Lining and security
We lined the inner card slots with an RFID-blocking layer to shield bank cards from scanning devices. The main cavity uses light microsuede fabric, which stops phone screens from scratching and helps you spot small keys quickly.
Two strap choices
The bag includes two detachable straps with solid swivel clips. You can clip on the narrow leather band for simple shoulder wear or swap to the woven guitar strap, which adjusts between 36.81 and 51.18 inches.
Carrying it
The bag sits at the hip. This is where most of ours land. At 6.3″ by 8.3″ across the face and 3.2″ deep, it comes to about 164 cubic inches inside. That is a pocket bag, not a work bag.
