Who cuts these bags

We cut leather handbags in cowhide and sell them through one retailer. This site is our own catalogue of them, written the way we would describe them across a counter.

HESHE makes bags out of full-grain and top-layer cowhide: 51 shapes, carried across 152 colourways, in seven families that go from a phone purse to a tote that swallows a laptop. Everything on this site is ours. There is no guest catalogue, no dropshipped filler, nothing here that came out of another workshop.

Why the numbers come first

Bags are bought from photographs, and photographs lie about size. A tote shot on a model looks like a handbag; a handbag shot on a table looks like a tote. So we put the length, the width and the height at the top of every card, and we built the fit page on those numbers rather than on adjectives. It is the least flattering way to sell a bag and the most useful one.

What we do not claim

We are not a heritage house and we do not pretend a machine did not touch these. They are cut and stitched in a factory, by people who do it every day, from hides bought by the batch. What we control is the leather grade, the hardware, the lining and the measurements we publish. What we do not control is the shop.

Where the shop ends and we begin

You buy from a retailer, not from us. They take the payment, they pack the box, they decide when it goes out and what happens if it comes back. We do not hold stock, run a checkout or see an order. When you write to us it will be about a bag, not about a parcel, and that is the only part we can help with.
