We cut this satchel from glossy, vegetable-tanned cowhide with a soft temper and a light vintage pull-up. The body measures 10.62 inches long by 3.93 inches wide and 7.67 inches tall. Warm brown leather hides minor scuffs well, mellowing into a deeper shade as the edges rub against daily wear.

How this one is built

Top-layer hide

We select smooth cowhide free of heavy growth marks, giving the brown surface an even gloss. The panels bend easily under hand pressure and settle into soft folds without cracking along the seams.

Pockets and partition

Inside, we set one zippered wall pocket and an open slip pocket against smooth curry satin. An extra compartment sits right beside the main space, paired with a rear zip pocket for quick access outside.

Clasp and fittings

We fitted dark gunmetal hardware across the frame, anchored by a metal swivel clasp at the main opening. The latch turns firmly into place so the top stays shut when carried by the twin grab handles.

Widened shoulder strap

The detachable shoulder strap adjusts from 42.32 inches to 48.22 inches end to end. We cut the center section wider than the ends to spread the bag weight evenly across your collarbone during long walks.

Carrying it

The bag sits at the hip. This is where most of ours land. At 10.6″ by 7.7″ across the face and 3.9″ deep, it comes to about 320 cubic inches inside. That is enough for long wallet and a phone.
